Six Republicans State Representatives and two State Senators have broken ranks with caucus leaders, voting in favor of a massive $6.6 billion tax increase, one of the largest in the state's history.

Hall of Shame: Republicans Voting in Favor of Record Tax Increases

Rep. Jim Abler (Anoka) 651.296.1729

Rep. Heidgerken (Freeport) 651.296.4317

Rep. Hamilton (Mountain Lake) 651.296.5373

Rep. Erhardt (Edina) 651.296.4373

Rep. Peterson (Bloomington) 651.296.7803

Rep. Tingelstad (Andover) 651.296.5369

Sen. Dille
(Dassel) 651.296.4131

Sen. Frederickson (New Ulm) 651.296.8138

The only hope now is to convince these wayward Republicans to uphold Governor Pawlenty's anticipated veto.  We have issued an Action Alert encouraging all Minnesotans to contact their legislators and ask them to support the Governor's veto.

Re: It Now Comes Down to Upholding the Governor's Veto    By Tim Hobert on 2/26/2008
These Left wings call themselves republicans! They should be ashamed of themselves. They are there to represent us, not bigger government taxes. I have raised 5 children,I should have more $ in my pocket now that they are gone. But my taxes on my house car, income ect. have gone up so mutch that I am no better of now than 5 years ago. And they are not letting up!!! My taxes go up at 4 times the rate of my paycheck. Maybe I go on welfare next year and get my taxes back and live better than I am now!!

Thank You Rinos,You helped my wife and I make up our minds. We were going to purchase a new car this year but now we will just drive our old one.We will not pay the extra taxes and fees on a new one. Also we will not be making any new major purchases in this state. We are now looking at setting money aside to invest in property in another state with much lower taxes.

I own 4 businesses in Minnesota. I can say with all sincerity, the taxes in Minnesota are creating such a hardship on us that we will either need to move our business to ND or close our doors.

And then idiots like you renegade 6 support raising our taxes even higher. You should be ashamed of yourself! And you call yourself Republicans? Enjoy your final term!

Just remember that liberalism is a mental disease.

And we don't want or need diseased people handling our money. We want our EARNED money and the government to do the job of governing not controlling. Stop obligating us to fund governments personal agendas!

In the face of the modern liberal assault on Constitution-based values, an attack that has steadily snowballed since President Roosevelt's New Deal of the 1930s and resulted in a federal government that is a massive, unaccountable conglomerate, the time for re-enforcing the intellectual and practical case for conservatism is now. Conservative beliefs in individual freedoms do in the end stand for liberty for all Americans, while liberal dictates lead to the breakdown of civilized society -- in short, tyranny. Looking back to look to the future, Levin writes "conservatism is the antidote to tyranny precisely because its principles are our founding principles." And in a series of powerful essays, Levin lays out how conservatives can counter the liberal corrosion that has filtered into every timely issue affecting our daily lives, from the economy to health care, global warming, immigration, and more -- and illustrates how change, as seen through the conservative lens, is always prudent, and always an enhancement to individual freedom.
