Renegade Judge Strikes Down Iowa Defense of Marriage Act
Jeff's Blog By Jeff Davis on 8/30/2007

A county judge decided that he will make the laws for Iowa, striking down the state's 1998 Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and ordering Polk County to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.  Minnesota lawmakers have used the excuse that our state's DOMA law provides adequate protection for marriage, but now we can clearly see that this is not the case.  Sign the Marriage Protection Petition calling on your elected officials to pass the Minnesota Marriage Amendment bill, allowing the PEOPLE to decide the future of marriage in Minnesota.

Founder's Quote of the Week

"But as the plan of the convention aims only at a partial union or consolidation, the State governments would clearly retain all the rights of sovereignty which they before had, and which were not, by that act, EXCLUSIVELY delegated to the United States." --Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 32
